Doolin-Dalton是十九世纪末美国大西部真正的不法之徒,由William Doolin、Dalton兄弟和George Newcomb等人组成的盗匪,当时称之为The Dalton Gang。Doolin由于名气太大,以及性格过于疯狂难以集体行动,所以并没有加入The Dalton Gang。在一次抢劫中,这个团伙失去了三位兄弟,还有三人生还在1891年开始追随起Doolin。后者在1896年被捕,并被判50年监禁,后在越狱后,于岳父的农场被击毙。
“老鹰”乐队的《Doolin-Dalton》,就是以这个历史事件为背景,所创作的一首歌曲。倒不是说他们希望通过这首作品,为这群杀人如麻的悍匪立碑树传。而是希望通过这样一首歌曲,重现出一个率真、江湖的特殊时代。而他们更通过这个故事的主题,延伸出《Desperado》这张经典的专辑概念,其封面的叛逆英雄造型,同样来自于The Dalton Gang“赋予”他们的灵感。
